The history of oak and the magic of working with wood
Trees are poems written by the earth. They tell secrets and sing songs in a lost language, while their life is so mysterious and full of beauty. Nowadays we live in a time that is so different from how people used to live. Mother nature has been our source of inspiration for ages, but suddenly we found ourselves in an artificial world, separated from nature. My work tries to return to it. It pays tribute to wood and forests, and respects traditional craft values. Always handmade.

The primary material I use is oak. This tree is also called the king of trees. It was the most sacred tree of the Slavs but also all Indo-Europeans, represented in various mythologies throughout history. Our ancestors dedicated oak to the god Perun, who ruled the thunder. Druids, for example, held their sacred rituals in oak groves and ate acorns that fell from the trees in hope of seeing the future.

However, with the dawn of modern times, we have forgotten the magic associated with oak wood which our ancestors strongly believed in, and we have lost respect for Mother Nature. My handcrafted products try to combine this ancient charm with the present time. They are burned with fire, leaving a unique ornament. History and the present, hand in hand.

As you hold smooth oak wood in your hands you can feel the magic in it. It is
a soothing sensation for all senses: smelling the wood, looking at the
beautiful porous texture, running your fingers over its surface and feeling
something akin to the ancient reverence in which our ancestors believed in.
They thought that trees have souls and therefore were living beings. However,
nowadays trees are often degraded into a source of raw material, but I try to
breathe in new life to them by creating small works of art.
